Why don’t you proudly display the CCW Breakaways brand logo on the outside of your pants?
It is because our mission comes first. We truly believe in our mission, which is: Protecting Families and Saving Lives. This is paramount. Your tactical advantage in using our product is that you will not be ID’d by the criminals. You are at a tactical advantage during the pre-conflict phase if you’re not telegraphing your concealed carry weapon.
How are the pants designed to fit?
The CCW Breakaways pant was designed to fit a broad range of body types. Our research discovered that the commonly recognized “Relaxed Fit” did the best job in concealing a firearm. You get a little more room in the seat, the thigh, and across the hips. The length of the gun barrel was never an issue for concealment. The length of the gun’s hand grip was the more difficult challenge. Tight fitting pants “print” the gun profile. It also makes withdrawal more complicated.
I'm left-handed. Can CCW Breakaways Pants work for me?
The CCW Breakaways pant works for both right-handed and left-handed individuals. Both front pockets are constructed similarly. Weapons are stored and carried equally well in either pocket. The same holds true for the MagSocks. They work well in either pocket. Both pockets “break away” for quick gun removal. Our pockets are disguised and expandable for rapid removal of weapons.
When you purchase the product, each garment has a hang tag. On the tag is a link to a “how to use this product” webpage. You can also follow the link here. Reviewing this webpage, you’ll learn how to adjust the pockets and deploy your firearm quickly. You’ll also find all the options and features for converting the pocket back to a normal pocket for carrying keys and coins. It is all accomplished in seconds. You can also “deep conceal” money, passports or other valuables.
Is training necessary? Do I really need to practice?
The first step is to visit our “how to” webpage. You’ll learn about the features and options that our product offers. Yes, you need to practice. Our pants are a part of the larger system . . . you + the gun + the CCW Breakaways Pant = effective tools for protecting your family and yourself. The usage of any tool needs to be repeated enough times such that when it is needed under pressure, it can do its job. Using these pants should become as familiar as putting the keys in the ignition of your car. You don’t think about where the key switch is. You just jump in your vehicle, insert the key and roll on. Practice and training produce familiarization, skill, and proficiency. With proficiency comes speed. Start slow. Get the mechanics down and your speed will improve in time. Training with replica Airsoft guns is a great idea too. In time, force-on-force drills will take you to a new level of skill and proficiency. Wear these pants to the range. Deploy your weapon, get off the X, move and shoot! Roll on the ground, deploy and shoot. Practice magazine exchanges. Watch our scenario videos on this website. You will generate ideas and scenarios of your own. One of your discoveries will be that you have another tool to use during the engagement. You have one arm/hand free because you’re not lifting a shirt, a vest, or jacket. In close quarters scenarios, you can use this arm/hand to defend yourself more effectively. You’ll discover that the motions required of your hand/wrist/arm are very natural and ergonomic. There are no awkward contortions of the body to find the weapon on your hip or behind the small of your back. You don’t have to take your eyes off the target while reaching for an ankle holster. You’ll also find that because it is more comfortable to carry your weapon in our pant, you’ll end up carrying more often. Test all the range of motion scenarios yourself. Sit, squat, stand-up, clinch, ground-fight, run, jump, and kneel. You’ll discover that the Pant works! Get a training gun and practice gun retention techniques with a partner. You’ll discover that the CCW Breakaways Pant also is better for retention and take-away. You won’t risk deployment until it is absolutely necessary. Unlike a holster, you can have your hand on the weapon in your pocket and still be concealed. In those split-second moments of decision making, you can decide to pull it, or leave it. Please send us your feedback and videos. We love to hear from our customers.
What happens when I go to a public restroom? How is this system different than the IWB method?
What a funny question, but anyone who has carried conceal weapons understands the complications of this situation. With an IWB, you just can’t loosen the belt, drop your drawers and then sit down. You have to find a place to put the holster and the firearm. You can’t rest it on the back of the toilet. You can’t balance it on the rolls of TP. You can’t lay it on the floor. Your nosey stall-neighbor will see it and freak-out. So usually, you have to delicately tuck it inside your undies. Who hasn’t almost dropped the gun in this situation? And after you’re all finished, reassembling all the parts is a real chore too. With the CCW Breakaways Pant all this is just a memory of the “way things used to be.” The gun is concealed in the pocket. You literally just drop the pants to your ankles, do your business, stand up, buckle up, and get on your way. It is a fast, ready-to-go system.
I really don’t need a holster . . . are you sure? And, “one-size-fits-all” . . . are you sure?
No, you really can give up your expensive one-for-each-gun holsters. It is not necessary with this system. Please watch the scenario videos and you’ll see that it is possible to go holster-less. You’ll also see that you can change over from one gun to another in seconds. In the end, you’ll save time and money with the CCW Breakaways Pant.
We’ve tried to cover every gun combination conceivable, but if there’s still something more that you need, we have seen customers effectively “customize” their pockets with safety pins. Safety pins can tighten or position your unique gun in the pocket effectively.
Why do you have a Product Liability Statement on your inside tags ?
CCW Breakaways wants to protect all of its stakeholders, which includes customers, distributors and employees. We need to ensure that no one misunderstands the intended purpose of our product. Our Breakaways product will not shield the wearer from guns, bullets, edged weapons or any hostilities. We are not in the body armor business. We believe that 99.9% of our customers understand this, but there may be a few individuals who need the additional warning.
Why are all the pants manufactured from cotton?
We didn’t want to skimp on anything. Sure, a cotton/poly blend would have been less expensive, but our customers are purchasing an American-made premium product. Americans understand the value of “Made in America.” They also love the comfort and feel of all natural materials. The CCW Breakaways pants are designed for comfort, flexibility, and mobility. Cotton provides the best solution.
There is a “Care Tag” sewn into every pair of pants with detailed care instructions. Yes, they are machine washable. And yes, they can be ironed.
You should not experience any shrinkage. Our cotton materials come from the mill pre-washed. We have it cut and sewn into garments. Then we wash, dry, press and package each pant and ensure each size has been graded so that you will not have a shrinkage problem. Yes, all these steps add up to more cost but as stated in an earlier FAQ, you’re buying a premium product. We don’t want to skimp on anything. Our goal is quality, our aim is your satisfaction.
Does CCW Breakaways make pants for women?
We do not yet manufacture clothing for women. We hope to offer a line of clothing for women sometime in 2010. At the present time, we are test marketing some color selections for women. Samples were shown at SHOT SHOW 2010 in January. At the present time, we welcome customer feedback. We’d like to hear your thoughts.
Do I need a concealed carry license to purchase CCW Breakaways pants?
You do not need a CCW license to purchase or wear our pants. However, you will want to comply with your State laws when carrying a concealed firearm in our pants.
Are CCW Breakaways pants suitable for under cover law enforcement officials?
Absolutely yes! These brave men and women who protect our country and communities deserve the best tools to do their jobs. These pants have been field tested by an undercover FBI agent. The product works well for LEO's and civilians alike.
The Patent Pending mark is an informational tool for our customers to know that many years worth of engineering and testing have gone into producing this product. It is a thoroughly thought-through and intentional design. The end results of this product have not happened by happenstance, they’ve happened by systematically working through problems and finding solutions. In the course of developing the CCW Breakaways product, the design features came about through a process of progressive revelation. The further downstream the designer went, a newer feature or idea became unveiled. Over the course of time, four such significant innovative ideas led to patent applications being filed at the US Patent and Trademark Office. When the USPTO formally awards the patent, our products will reflect the new patent numbers. The Patent Pending mark is also an indicator to our competitors who may try to infringe upon our intellectual property.
Why do you say that CCW Breakaways Jeans are best suited for smaller framed guns?
Even though the Jeans have the same size pocket, they are better suited for smaller framed firearms. In order to maintain the consistent “look and feel” of the denim jean that Americans have come to love, we decided against a pant pleat in the front. The pleats in the Khakis and the Cargos help aid in the concealment of larger firearms. Carrying full size firearms in the Khakis and Cargos is not a problem. The Jeans function equally as well in carry-ability performance and the deploy-ability performance of a firearm.
Why do these pants cost more than well known brands?
The CCW Breakaways pants are manufactured here in the USA from the highest quality materials and with the finest construction techniques available. There is more labor required to produce this product than a normal pant, but there is more functionality in our pants also. These pants do not have the advantage of commodity volume pricing, and we will not compromise on quality, comfort, fashion, and durability, even if it costs a little more. But compared to the cost of good holster, which you no longer need, we think this is a pretty good value.
Yes, you can now order shorts on our website.
No, our pants do not have cuffs. However, if you desire cuffed pants you could buy the longer length inseams and have a tailors alter them to your preference.
What is CCW Breakaways exchange and returns policy?
Our return and exchange policy is just like most major brick &
mortar or online retailers. If you try on the garments and
they do not fit, just call our office, notify us of the problem, and
then send them back to us immediately. Please do not wear them
for a couple of days to “test-them-out.” We can not exchange
or refund used or soiled clothing. We can not sell “used”
clothing. We will exchange them for the correct size. We
want you to be satisfied. We want you to be pleased with our
products. We want you to be a repeat customer. You will
only come back to us if the products and services we offer exceed
your expectations. You, the customer, are our life-blood!
Before you place an order, please measure yourself. Do not
rely upon other manufacturers’ labels and tags in your existing
pants. Not all manufacturers take the time and energy to “get
the sizes perfectly correct.” At CCW Breakaways, we purchase
pre-shrunk fabrics. We sew the garments from these fabrics.
We then wash and dry the finished garment to ensure that no
shrinkage occurs after the customer receives it. And finally,
we press, package and inspect the garment before we ship it to you.
If there is some kind of error in our execution, we will
“eat-the-shipping-cost.” If the error is on the customer’s
side, we ask the customer to “eat-the-shipping-cost.”
